Diseases you can get from a public toilet

by Unknown  |  in toilet at  8:18 am

One day or the other, you get pressed while walking, then, you walk in to a public toilet, didn't clean or wash the seat, you started pooping, you finished pooping, then you wash your buttocks, use your hand to draw the flush button, Then walk out!!. My beloved, you have just registered for a toilet disease, if your registration is accepted(lol), you be ready to get any of this below.
Read and get orientated

Here is a list of diseases you might get from a public toilet:
Gut infection – Faecal-borne bacteria like E.coli, streptococcus, staphylococcus and shigella are the most abundant bugs found in a public toilet. Contamination of surfaces by an infected person’s faeces can transmit their infections.
Some strains of E. coli (Escherichia coli) bacteria can cause bloody diarrhoea and abdominal cramps.
Shigella bacterium causes severe diarrhoea, abdominal cramps and dysentery, etc.
Lung and skin infections
Streptococcus can cause contagious throat and skin infections.
Staphylococcus bacteria that cause skin infections, pneumonia, food poisoning , etc. linger around on toilet surfaces for longer periods, thereby increasing the chances of
disease transmission.
Viral infections – You could catch a cold from the public toilet. While the common cold virus usually survives for a shorter while, some viruses like influenza, norovirus, etc. can live for many days on toilet surfaces.
Sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) – It is also possible, but unlikely, to get an STD by sitting on a toilet seat! Though very unlikely,
infectious material on the seat may come in contact with a break in your skin and infect you.
However, despite the bad news there is no need to panic. By adopting simple hygienic measures like hand washing and by increasing your body immunity you can still keep these
infections at bay. Moreover, the toilet surfaces are not a common vehicle for transmitting
infections. You’re more likely to be exposed to these bugs by touching things every day that are dirtier than a toilet seat!
Mobile phones, kitchen wipes and sponges, chopping boards and carpets have more bugs than toilet seats. Even the keyboards and
office desks have respectively 200 times and 400 times more bacteria than a toilet seat.
Influenza viruses are most common on office desks.
Tips to Prevent Contracting those Nasty Toilet Bugs:
- Use a hand sanitizer or tissue paper while opening the toilet door.
- Use a toilet seat cover (available at
pharmacies), and if u don’t have one clean the toilet seat with toilet paper (you can do away with this step while using an Indian style toilet).
- When you have no other choice hover closely above the toilet seat.
- Use toilet paper to press flush button.
- Flush with the lid down on the toilet seat or exit the place quickly after flushing.
- Wash your hands thoroughly after you use the toilet.
- Wipe your hands dry with tissue paper.
