And you would want to ask, how about those in the 50's, how did they survive?.
Self medication, as it self implies, Medicating Oneself. In a layman's definition, self-medication is defined
as "the use of drugs to treat self-diagnosed disorders or symptoms, or the intermittent or continued use of a prescribed drug for chronic or recurrent disease or symptoms.
Let me tell you a story before I continue, there is a woman in my neighbourhood who died because she did the above. She was pregnant and she didn't go for antenatal nor any medication whatsoever but took to herself. She had nurse as neighbors but didn't involve them, money I guess, was her problem, but still that excuse is not genuine enough. As I was saying, on the day of her delivery, she was taken to a woman, who was said to be an expert in child delivery. After giving birth to the child, the child didn't cry, and the mother was bleeding extraordinarily, the woman(Midwife) not being a professional nurse or Doctor couldn't stop the bleeding, so the people who brought her to the place of delivery now wanted to take her to a hospital or a clinic. While all this was happening, the child who didn't cry had already given up the ghost. The almost-illiterate midwife told the mother immediately about the death of her just-born baby which wasn't supposed to be, that alone gave the mother 'shock' and increased her already started bleeding. So, her friends now put her in a taxi ready to take her to the hospital, while they were on their way to the hospital. She gave up the ghost. Now two losses, Mother and Child. A very sad one. Death isn't something anyone prays for, but I would say, the woman caused it. Rumours spread round after this unpredicted incident took place but the sure and reliable one I grabbed was that the Alleged woman had the sum of 150,000 she kept for the house she was building. I don't know why people havent dawned on the fact that "Health is Wealth". Now, the 150,000 she kept for the house, who will take it? When, the house is completed, will she live there?. If she had knew this would happen, she would probably have used some of the money to pay bills that could have contributed to her safe delivery.
I don't want to divert away from my main topic, Self medication. The woman above thought she could do it all alone, wanted to act as a typical woman in the early 50's, and am sure you would want to ask, how about those in the 50's, how did they survive? Even though they drank more dirtier water, lived in a more dirty environment. Yea, they survived because they ate more natural things than us. A typical being in the 50's would wake early in the morning, climb his banana tree, pluck some bananas and eat unlike we in the millennium who would wake in the morning, put some rice on the gas cooker, ready to eat! or another being in the 50's who is exposed to trees, flowers, front and back of his house and another being in the millennium who is surrounded by some rocks, pool and others, neglecting our main source of oxygen.
Also, back then there were no cars and machines which would combust and pollute our environment, exposing our plants, water and other naturals to these pollutants which affects our health drastically. Don't self diagnose, visit your doctors, visit health blogs.
When you self-diagnose and self-treat, You can
- use Overdose which can lead to quick and untimely death
- get dizzy which can make you go gaga, ruin a lot of things and eventually kill
- get brain tumors, tremor which could lead to lots of disease and eventually kill.
Many defects, harming side effects you might get while treating yourself.
Don't follow the principle of "those in the 50's, how did they survive". Machines have spoilt our naturals, now artificials are given to us through technology which has done more good than harm so far.
Take fruits like Apples, bananas, oranges and mangoes.
Don't play games with your health, "Health is Wealth", the billions you have if you don't use it on things that can prolong your live, then what's worth having them if you won't live a well spent healthy life, even though we all have a limit to long we can live. Take no chances to neglecting your health, Remember we only live once.
