Causes and Home Remedies of skin rash.

by Unknown  |  in skin at  2:56 pm

Skin rash can be embarrassing and distasteful see its causes below.
Rash Causes
Contact dermatitis can be caused by coming into contact with:
beauty products, soaps, and laundry
detergent dyes in clothing chemicals in rubber, elastic, or latex poisonous plants such as poison oak, poison ivy, or poison sumac
Drug rashes are caused by medication. They can form as:
an allergic reaction
a side effect a result of sensitivity to sunlight
Other types of rashes include:
eczema : a common rash for people with asthma or allergies. The rash is often reddish and itchy, with a scaly texture.
bug bites : tick bites are of particular concern, as they can transmit disease psoriasis: a scaly, itchy, red rash that forms along the scalp and joints dandruff : an itchy, flaky rash on the scalp.
On an infant, dandruff is called cradle cap.
seborrheic dermatitis : dandruff that occurs on the ears, mouth, nose, or somewhere besides the scalp
Children are particularly prone to rashes from illnesses such as:
chicken pox: a virus that causes itchy
blisters
measles : a respiratory infection
scarlet fever: a bacterial disease
(streptococcus infection) that requires antibiotics hand, foot, and mouth disease: a virus that causes red lesions fifth disease: a red, flat rash on the face, upper arms, and legs
Kawasaki disease: an autoimmune disease that affects the blood vessels
impetigo: a bacterial infection that forms red, wet sores that crust over
Medical diseases can cause rashes as well.
These include lupus erythematosus (a long-term disorder of the autoimmune system) and rheumatoid arthritis (long-term inflammation of the joints).
Rash Home Remedies
Most contact rashes can be treated at home by following these guidelines:
- Use gentle cleansers instead of soap.
- Use warm water instead of hot water for washing.
- Pat rash dry instead of rubbing.
- Let the rash breathe—do not cover with clothing, if possible.
- Stop using new cosmetics or lotions, as these may have triggered the rash.
- Do not scratch your rash. If it itches, try an over-the-counter hydrocortisone cream (one percent). - Lotion with calamine can soothe rashes caused by chicken pox and poison ivy, poison oak, or poison sumac.
- An oatmeal bath can soothe rashes caused by shingles, eczema, or psoriasis. Moisturizing lotion may help eczema symptoms.
Dandruff is caused by weather, oily skin, stress, fatigue, or not washing one’s hair enough. Dandruff can usually be treated by washing your hair and scalp regularly with dandruff shampoo. Medicated dandruff shampoo is commonly available at drugstores, though your doctor can prescribe stronger types.
You can take acetaminophen or ibuprofen for mild pain associated with the rash. Check with your healthcare provider before taking these drugs if you have liver or kidney disease, or a history of stomach ulcers or GI bleeding.

The Curious: What is Melanoma?

by Unknown  |  in skin at  5:49 pm

Melanoma is the most serious type of skin cancer . Often the first sign of melanoma is a change in the size, shape, color, or feel of a mole. Most melanomas have a black or black-blue area. Melanoma may also appear as a new mole. It may be black, abnormal, or "ugly looking."
Thinking of "ABCDE" can help you remember what to watch for:
Asymmetry - the shape of one half does not match the other
Border - the edges are ragged, blurred or irregular
Color - the color is uneven and may include shades of black, brown and tan
Diameter - there is a change in size, usually an increase
Evolving - the mole has changed over the past few weeks or months
Surgery is the first treatment of all stages of melanoma. Other treatments include chemotherapy and radiation, biologic, and targeted therapies. Biologic therapy boosts your body's own ability to fight cancer.
Targeted therapy uses substances that attack cancer cells without harming normal cells.

Habits we should ban to have a radiant and shining skin.

by Unknown  |  in tips at  7:47 pm

We’re divulging some of our skin tips that might just help you achieve your best skin ever. It’s not so much a to-do list, but more of a “what not to do” list.
You’re probably already doing some awesome things for your skin, like using natural skin care or eating an organic diet. Keep on keepin’ on! But you might also be committing
skin sabotage in some ways you didn’t realize.
Our source made a list of 9 things you might be doing to make your skin less-than-radiant. Most of.us have been guilty of some of things at least
once in our lives!
If you want this year to be the year that your skin tone evens before your eyes, your wrinkles
soften, or your breakouts subside, we
recommend you kick these habits!
1. Eating Excess Sugar (When you know you shouldn’t!)
A 2013 study looked at the connection between blood sugar and aging. Participants who tested with higher blood sugar levels were
also rated as looking older. Crazy, right?
Looking older shouldn’t be the only reason you avoid eating sugar, but it is one effect that this addictive substance seems to have.
Constantly spiking our blood sugar levels and then later crashing down is an unhealthy cycle that many of us subject our bodies to, and our skin shows it.
We recommend making informed choices about which kind of sweetener you use and paying attention to how much sugar is in the
prepared foods that you buy. For those of us who maybe haven’t perfected the art of making “meals” (ahem, guilty), simply eliminating Justin’s Organic Chocolate Peanut
Butter Cups from your breakfast menu might be an easy place to start.
2. Not Hydrating
We’ve all heard that statistic that says we’re pretty much just a bunch of water that look like humans walking around the planet. Yet
we still find reasons not to hydrate: “Water is boring…” “Having to pee all the time is inconvenient…” “I hate washing cups…”
We know that we need water to do all the things our body needs to do. One is transporting nutrients to the places they need to go. Another is flushing out the toxins we don’t want hanging around. So do yourself a favor this and drink up!
Personally, the constant motion of drinking from a cup kind of annoys me. Not like a pet peeve, I’d-tell-you-this-during-a-get-to-know-you-game kind of thing. I’d just rather
drink out of a straw. So I use one of those obnoxiously huge cups with a built in straw, add a squeeze of lemon and ice and take sips
throughout the day. Maybe having an
awesome water receptacle would work for you, too.
3. Sleeping on Pillow Cases Washed with Toxic Laundry Detergent
Bet you didn’t see this one coming!
we talked about chemicals found in laundry detergents that you might be using, some of which are linked to cancer, lung damage, and hormone disruption. Given that your clothes
are on your body all day and you sleep on your pillows all night, you might want to think twice about what you use to launder them.
Is using chemical detergents to wash your pillow cases causing your acne or wrinkles?
Probably not. But it’s definitely not helping, and some people are more sensitive to chemical irritation than others. Either way, having those substances near your face (for ⅓
of your life!) does not a happy complexion (or body) make. You might try making your own detergent if DIY is your style.
4. Using Skin Care Products That Contain Alcohol
Why is there alcohol in your skin care
products? They’re used to help ingredients mix together to form a finished product, act as preservatives, and temporarily shrink your pores.
Why don’t you want them there? Some alcohols used in skin care are drying, irritating, and damaging to your skin, and many contain petroleum-derived additives that
you definitely don’t want on your face.
Even the types of alcohols that are pretty much harmless aren’t doing anything good for your skin, but if you replaced the alcohol with healing aloe juice, your skin would be singing
joyful noises (or dancing or painting or doing whatever your skin does when it wants to express itself).
All we’re saying is, be choosy when it comes to the ingredients in your skin care. There are so many plant-based ingredients out there that your skin loves, so there’s no need to settle for skin-drying alcohols.
5. Skin Addictions
Skin gets used to what you put on it. If you’re feeding it well, awesome! If you’re not, then there can be problems. A common ingredient
that skin gets addicted to is benzoyl peroxide.
Usually prescribed for acne, it clears up the skin by killing bacteria and reducing oil production. In the long term, it is extremely drying for most skin types, essentially working
like a bleach. Ouch!
Alkaline benzoyl peroxide disturbs your skin’s acid mantle, which should be at a pH of between 4.5-5.5. Once you stop using it, your skin starts to re-balance itself to its natural pH. During what is essentially a detox process, many people find that they break out.
Have patience! These skin detox-induced breakouts should subside after a few weeks.
And there are lots of natural remedies for acne and other skin conditions. Our Citrus Mint
Cleanser is pH balanced and gentle while also helping to keep acne breakouts at bay.
6. Using Unnatural Makeup
So we talked about your skin at night (resting on a pillow case), but what about during the day? Many of us wear makeup, either occasionally or for everyday coverage. There’s
nothing wrong with wanting to look your best, but putting on foundation, blush, concealer, etc. everyday could be making your skin less healthy.
Many makeup brands, I’m going to say most, use ingredients that can cause you harm. Last
Unnatural makeup products can clog your pores, irritate your skin, and create a barrier that keeps your skin from breathing. So, your skin gets worse over time as you use them.
We favor natural mineral makeups without added preservatives and fragrances. They’re a healthy way to even out your skin tone and cover imperfections. You can also use our Sun Love lotion for a hint of color (not to mention luxurious avocado oil and beautifying hyaluronic acid).
7. Leaving Your Makeup on Overnight
You’re tired. Your eyelids are closing against your will. You’re almost considering sleeping in your jeans. Stop! Wait! It’s time to wash off
your makeup. Naked skin is happy skin.
Especially if you’re wearing chemical makeup brands, you want to give your skin a break over night.
In the same vein, make sure to wash your makeup off before working out. When you break a sweat and your pores open up, dirt, oil and, yep, makeup will get in there. Also,
unless you want to wash your pillow cases every day (Ouch! Said mother earth) you should do your best to keep them clean in between washes. Another reason that washing your face before bed is a must!
8. Eating From a Box
You can’t talk about good skin without talking about health. Your skin is an indicator of what’s happening inside. We can’t tell you
whether being gluten-free, vegan, raw, vegetarian or what will work for you. There a lot of theories and diet plans out there, and we don’t have the bandwidth to sift through them all.
However, eating whole foods is something pretty un-debatably healthy. It can be challenging to prepare foods from scratch and
avoid the urge to succumb to a prepacked frozen entree, but preparing fresh foods is a great way to stay healthy. At the very least,
you’ll know what’s on your plate.
Try to have a salad or smoothie every day to up your intake of raw fruits, vegetables, and nuts. Try to eat the rainbow! Different colored produce provides different benefits, so make
things fun and multicolored on your plate in order to cover your nutritional bases.
9. Not Exfoliating
We’ll end with a simple one: exfoliation. As you get older, your rate of cell turnover decreases and your need for regular exfoliation
increases. Giving your skin a good scrub sloughs off dead skin cells and encourages new ones to generate. Plus, when you’re using potent anti-aging products, you want to make
sure they are being well absorbed (not just sitting on top of dead skin cells).
Of course, there is such a thing as too much exfoliation, so you need to find a balance. For most people, a couple times a week does the trick. As you age, this may be closer to 3 or 4
times a week.
We have an amazing Dead Sea Scrub that exfoliates while re-mineralizing the skin. It’s the perfect thing to use before putting on a moisturizing mask.
If you have whiteheads or otherwise sensitive skin, be careful not to exfoliate too vigorously.
A gentle scrub like our Ayurvedic Facial Scrub may be better suited for you.
You can achieve the skin you want! By ditching some of your bad
habits and adopting some good ones, you could find yourself waking up to younger, more radiant looking skin!

Comprehensive: What is Acne(Pimples) and What causes it

by Unknown  |  in skin at  12:27 am

Many people don't know it as acne, many knows it as pimples.
Truly, some kids/parents are always happy whenever their child or they themselves have pimples. Lol. Quick story.

A wonderful morning, Child yawns, greets mum, greets dad and other extended relatives, brushes his teeth, while brushing, he checks the mirror, What's this on my face, He wondered and continued brushing, then Starts bathing, touches his face, Why is my face so rough, He wondered again, knowing in his mind that he would check the mirror while dressing, He started dressing, now it was time to comb hair, he joyfully draws his bears like he was going to take a photo, he goes to the mirror, sees pink or black stuffs over his face, I didn't change my cream or my soap. What happened? He thought, refusing to tell anyone since he was a big boy. Goes to the dining table for breakfast, mum sees his face. Michael, what's this all over your face, mum asked, she didn't wait for reply and said happily, is it pimples?. She asked then Called her husband. Sweetheart, Michael now has pimples, she said happily.(lol). Dad replies, wow, our son is now a big boy. Lol. Guessed you laughed
After reading this, tell me one word suitable for this parents. Lol
Oh My Dear, Pimples(acne) is a skin disease. It's not worth been happy about.
Another thought stroke me, "you guessing am the Michael?. Lol, nope Check my INstagram and see how fresh I am. Lol
Now over to the topic.
Read and get oriented!

What is acne?
The word acne comes from the word acme meaning "the highest point," which comes from the Greek akme meaning "point" or "spot" - it was originally misspelt, with an 'n' rather
than an 'm' in 1835.
Acne, medically known as Acne Vulgaris, is a skin disease that involves the oil glands at the base of hair follicles.
In humans, pimples tend to appear on the face, back, chest, shoulders and neck.
Simply put - skin cells, sebum and hair can clump together into a plug, this plug gets infected with bacteria, resulting in a swelling.
A pimple starts to develop when the plug begins to break down.
Scientists from the Washington University School of Medicine found that there are good and bad strains of bacteria that determine the severity and frequency of developing acne
. They explained in the Journal of Investigative Dermatology (March 2013 issue) that not all acne bacteria trigger pimples - in fact, one strain they identified can help keep the skin
pimple-free.
The types of pimples
Whiteheads - remain under the skin and are very small
Blackheads - clearly visible, they are black and appear on the surface of the skin.
Remember that a blackhead is not caused by dirt. Scrubbing your face vigorously when you see blackheads will not help
Papules - visible on the surface of the skin.
They are small bumps, usually pink
Pustules - clearly visible on the surface of the skin. They are red at their base and have pus at the top
Nobules - clearly visible on the surface of the skin. They are large, solid pimples.
They are painful and are embedded deep in the skin
Cysts - clearly visible on the surface of the skin. They are painful, and are filled with pus. Cysts can easily cause scars.
How common is acne?
Human skin has pores (tiny holes) which connect to oil glands located under the skin.
The glands are connected to the pores via follicles - small canals. These glands produce Sebum, an oily liquid. The sebum carries dead
skin cells through the follicles to the surface of the skin.
Dermatologists (skin specialists) say that approximately three-quarters of 11 to 30 year- olds will get acne at some time. Acne can affect people of all races and all ages. It most
commonly affects adolescents and young adults, although there are people in their fifties who still get acne. According to Brown University, USA, approximately 17 million
Americans are estimated to have acne at any one time.
Although acne affects both men and women, young men suffer from acne for longer - probably because testosterone, which is present in higher quantities in young men, can
make acne worse.
What causes acne?
Nobody is completely sure what causes acne.
Experts believe the primary cause is a rise in androgen levels - androgen is a type of hormone. Androgen levels rise when a human becomes an adolescent. Rising androgen levels make the oil glands under your skin
grow; the enlarged gland produces more oil.
Excessive sebum can break down cellular walls in your pores, causing bacteria to grow.
Some studies indicate that a susceptibility to acne could also be genetic. Some medications
that contain androgen and lithium may cause acne. Greasy cosmetics may cause acne in some susceptible people. Hormone changes during pregnancy may cause acne either to
develop for the first time, or to recur.
Recent developments on acne causes from MNT news
Strain of acne-causing bacteria found to actually preserve skin
Everyone has acne-causing bacteria living on their skin, but researchers at the Washington University School of Medicine have identified that there are "good" and "bad" strains of the
bacteria, which determine the frequency and severity of developing pimples.
High GI-diet and dairy intake linked to acne.
A diet high in glycemic index foods and dairy products is now linked to acne, according to a new study published in the Journal of the
Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.

Good, hope you got oriented?.
In summary, Acne is a skin disease, it is caused: genetically, by foods, creams etc.
Preventive and treatment methods to be updated soon.
